Want to make more sales from your emails? First, you need people to open and read them.
How many emails do you have in your inbox right now? How many have you opened today?
There’s likely a ton still marked “unread” that you haven’t got to yet (and probably won’t get to later either), and the same is true for your potential customers.
As an online business owner, the easiest way to make more sales is to get your offer in front of as many warm leads as possible, and utilising your email list is a simple way to do this.
People on your email list have already indicated they want to hear from you and are interested in what you have to offer them, so it’s up to you to keep it that way.
But if your subject line doesn’t stand out, your email will get lost in every crowded inbox and remain unread until it gets deleted in the next big purge.
So let’s improve your email subject lines, get more of them opened, and increase your sales with 3 simple tweaks!
1. Keep the title short.
Too many words mean no one will see them anyway because they’ll get cut off by the email provider. Try to keep your email subject line to 20–30 characters. If you really need more, you can break it up over the subject and preview line.
2. Include a benefit for your reader.
Why is it worth opening your email? What’s in it for them to commit a click and a couple of minutes of reading to you?
How will your offer change their life for the better? Will it help them save time or money? Will it make them feel good or entertain them? Will it help them make more money?
Include a benefit in your subject line and people can see straight away why they should open it.
3. Add an emoji.
Emojis are such an easy way to stand out in a sea of emails!
Your reader’s eye is drawn to your email immediately and then you have a chance to wow them with the rest of your subject line.
But don’t overdo it — one emoji is enough. More than that and you’ll just look spammy.
